Oxes / The Fourth Wall / Deluxe Edition / Double Vinyl LP

$34.00

Oxes (1998–2011) was an experimental instrumental trio from Baltimore, Maryland, featuring guitarists Marc Miller and Nat Fowler alongside drummer Christopher Freeland. Known for their boundary-pushing performances, Oxes blended heavy instrumentals with performance art, employing wireless guitars and stand-up comedy. Their sound has been described as “heavy metal tone poems” or “ZZ Top from far away, jazz up close.”

The Fourth Wall is an expanded edition of Oxes' self-titled 2000 debut, now packaged with their long-shelved first Peel Session, presented for the first time in its original high fidelity. This reissue launches Computer Students’ Expanded Reissues series, which revives albums with bonus materials, remastered sound, and unpublished archival content.

Remastered by Sarah Register in NYC, the album showcases Oxes’ distinctive heaviness, defying convention with their lack of bass guitar. Lacquers were cut by Anne Taegert at Dubplates in Berlin, ensuring the highest sonic quality.

This reissue offers fans a fresh perspective on Oxes' inventive music, celebrating their legacy as one of the most unconventional instrumental bands of their era.
